Fitzel, Marilyn Eleanor (Marriage - 30 Sept. 1961)

Miss Marilyn Eleanor Fitzel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Fitzel of Colby, and Mannon E. Gustafson of Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hilmer Gustafson of Owen, exchanged marriage vows in First United Church of Christ, in Colby Saturday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 P.M., Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch officiating at the marriage ceremony. The church was decorated with white mums, purple mums, yellow gladiolus and candles.

The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Gustafson of Colby, Wis. Ushers were Richard Weller and Allen Duvall of Colby, Wis. Herbert Juneau of Abbotsford sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "O Promise Me."

The bride was attired in a street-length gown of white brocade fashioned with a bell sheath skirt and sleeveless bodice accented with pretty shoulder bows. A demure jacket with three-quarter length sleeves completed her attire. Her bouquet consisted of red roses and pink feathered carnations.

The matron of honor wore a coral taffeta frock with pleated belle street-length skirt, oval neckline and short sleeves, fitted bodice accented by a tailored bow at front waist. Her bouquet consisted of fall mums.

The bride’s mother wore a blue sheath dress accented with a collar with matching fur and a jacket with three-quarter length sleeves. The groom’s mother wore a gray dress with a jacket and matching accessories. Both wore a corsage of pink roses and white carnations.

A supper was served at the church hall to 100 guests and a dance and reception was held at Cherokee Hall.

The bride, a graduate of Colby High School, is employed by the General Telephone Co. at Colby and the groom, a graduate of Owen High School, is employed by the Freeport Silo Co. at Owen.

Out of town guests were from Illinois, Sheboygan, Owen, Withee, Elkhart Lake, New Holstein, Curtiss, Marshfield, Stratford.
