Mordt, Carrie (7 Sept. 1870 - 29 Aug. 1962)

Mrs. Carrie Mordt, age 92, of Stevens Point, Wis., died August 29, 1962, in Los Angeles, Calif. Born in St. Julian, Germany, on September 7th, 1870, she came to Wisconsin at the age of 16. She was married to Edward Mordt in Medford, Wis., in 1892, and resided in Abbotsford, Wis., until 1924 when the family moved to Stevens Point, Wis.

Surviving are five daughters, Elsie Mordt of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. J. W. (Maude) Taylor of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. H. E. (Esther) Decord of Grand Forks, N. Dak., Mrs. H. L. Cartwright of Stevens Point, Wis., Mrs. Callie Gabelson of Los Angeles, Calif.; 16 grand children; 20 great grand children; one great, great grand daughter; a sister, Mrs. Lottie Graham of Stevens Point, Wis.; a brother, Jack Young of Colby, Wis. Preceding her in death were her husband, a son, Oscar, and two brothers.

Funeral services were held in Los Angeles, Calif., at the Armstrong parlors on Thursday, Aug. 30, 1962, Rev. Wobrock of Anaheim, Calif., officiating. Funeral services in Stevens Point were held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 2:00 at the Boston Funeral Home, Rev. P. F. Plaffman of Peace United Church of Christ officiating. During the services, Mrs. H. E. Foster, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Silverman, sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "Oh Gentle Presence." Burial was made in the Forest Cemetery at Stevens Point.

Relatives from out of town present were Mrs. J. W. Taylor of Sarasota, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Decord of Grand Forks, N. Dak., Mrs. Callie Gabelson of Los Angeles, Calif., Donald Gabelson of Rawline, Wyo., John J. Taylor of Waukesha, Wis., Dr. S. R. Taylor of Corinth, Miss., Mrs. Bertha Young, Mr. and Mrs. William Young and Mrs. John Frane of Colby, Wis.
