Helf, Anna (May 1874 - 15 May 1942)

Funeral services for Mrs. John Helf, 68, were held Monday at 10:00 o’clock at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, and internment was made in the family lot at Dorchester, Wis. The Rev. J. Brandt of Christ Evangelical Lutheran church officiated at the services.

Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased: Arnold and Gilbert Laack, Max Hoffman, Albert Lindau, Ed Stock and Melvin Tennis.

The floral tributes were carried by four nieces: Mrs. Lewis Goldamer, the Misses Lois Stock, Ila Mae Hoffman and Miss Bushman.

Mrs. Helf was born Anna Laack in Sheboygan, in May, 1874. When only a small child her parents moved to a farm about four miles northwest of Abbotsford, Wis. She was married at her home in the fall of 1892 to John Helf. For several years they farmed and later moved to Abbotsford, Wis. They also lived in Colby and Loyal. About 25 years ago, they moved to Minneapolis where they lived until the time of her death, Friday morning at the Lutheran hospital in Minneapolis.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gust Steffen, a grand daughter and great grand daughter, all of Minneapolis. Two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Cody of Minneapolis and Mrs. Mary Leichtnam, of Fond du Lac, and one brother, Charles Laack, of Rib Lake, also survive.

Her husband preceded her in death two years ago. Two daughters and one son also preceded her in death.
