Perez, Isabel (Marriage - 5 Dec. 1942)

Miss Isabel Perez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Perez, became the bride of Lieutenant Eldred C. Speck, United States Army, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Speck, Abbotsford, Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at a marriage ceremony in the rectory of St. Stephen’s church, St. Louis. The Rev. Hoelting officiated.

The bride wore a gown of white brocaded satin, trimmed with lace. The long sleeves were tight fitting and the full skirt terminated in a train. Her veil fell from a halo headdress adorned with seed pearls. A purple orchid was in the center of her bouquet of white carnations.

Mrs. L. C. Crook of Holy Hills, St. Louis, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and Miss Sally Garcia, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. Their gowns were of silk taffeta made on old fashioned lines, with fitted bodices and full skirts. Mrs. Crook wore cerise with matching veil adorned with roses. Miss Garcia was in chartreuse with veil of the same color. They carried yellow chrysanthemums and pompons, tied with matching ribbons.

L. C. Crook was best man for the groom.

The bride’s mother wore a dress of olive green and gold, and her flowers were gardenias. Following the wedding there was a wedding breakfast, and later a reception in the Perez home.

The bride is a graduate of East St. Louis high school, and Summers College of Commerce.

Lieutenant Speck is a graduate of Whitewater State Teacher’s College and is stationed at Gulfport Field, Gulfport, Miss. He and his bride will live in Gulfport.
