Le Claire, Dena (87th Birthday - 5 July 1943)

Monday was the eighty-seventh birthday anniversary of Mrs. Julius Le Claire. The occasion was celebrated on Sunday when those of the family who could, came to bring birthday wishes to their little, white haired mother, who scarcely weighs 85 pounds.

Mrs. Le Claire, who was Dena Fountain, was born in St. John’s, Chrinauton, District of Bauharnoie, East Canada. When she was 10 years old, the family moved to Fond du Lac where she was married in 1876 to Julius Le Claire.

A year later, the young couple moved to an 80-acre farm which is part of the village of Dorchester and lived there for 43 years. There were 10 children born to them.

In 1920 they left the farm and moved to the village of Abbotsford where Mr. Le Claire died in 1927.

Mrs. Le Claire has seven children, 15 grand children, four of whom are in the service, and eight great grand children.

Those who attended the birthday celebration included Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Lord and their two daughters, Patricia and Mrs. Ed Babbitt, of Cornell; George Le Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Lars Thompson and children, Donald and Susan, of Neillsville; and Dr. and Mrs. W. Wojta of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Edith Kramer and Miss Lelah Le Claire, of Abbotsford, Wis.

Three sons, Arthur, Rhinelander; Ed, Portland, Oregon; and Wilfred, Seattle, were unable to be here for the celebration.
