Olson, Mae (Marriage - 20 Nov. 1943)

In a ceremony performed November 20 in the parsonage of Immanuel Lutheran church in Colorado Springs, Col., Miss Mae Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Einar Olson, Abbotsford, and Tech. Sgt. Frederick B. Ziemer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ziemer, Kankakee, Ill., exchanged nuptial vows before the Rev. Walter Enge.

They departed immediately afterward for Abbotsford to visit the bride’s parents, and on Sunday evening were guests of honor at a reception there, followed by a dance at Jerkwater hall. Though the couple was unable to have friends serve as their attendants at the wedding ceremony, they chose attendants for the reception. They were the bride’s sister, Miss Shirley Olson; the bridegroom’s niece, Miss Darlene Beland; and the bride’s brother, Ivan, and James Buss.

The bride was attired in an entrained white brocaded satin dress and wore a finger-tip veil attached to a coronet of orange blossoms. Her attendants wore identically styled princess gowns of pink and blue brocaded satin with flowered head dress and shoulder-length veils to match. Miss Marlyn Ruden and Miss Viriginia Mueller served as table waitresses during their reception.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. William Ziemer, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Beland, Miss Darlene Beland and Miss Charlene Olson, Kankakee; Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Muehler, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Muehler and family and Mr. and Mrs. Erick Beisner, Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Olson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Kramer and daughter, Violet, and Mr. and Mrs. Orin Kramer, Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Barney Schommer and son, Harold of Colby, Wis.

The bridegroom is stationed at Peterson Field, Colo., and the couple will reside at nearby Colorado Springs for the present.

The bride is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school, with the class of 1941, and has been engaged in war work. The bridegroom, a graduate of the Kankakee high school, has been in the army nearly three years.

Tech Sgt. Zeimer is an engineer gunner on a Flying Fortress, and he operates the top turret gun. He has just returned from England, where he made 25 raids over Nazi occupied territory. He was in England with the 8th Air Force for a year and is now on furlough.

He has received the Air medal and three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying cross for his service.
