Gosse, Evelyn (Marriage - 10 Apr. 1944)

On Easter Monday morning, Miss Evelyn Gosse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gosse, town of Colby, and Raymond Orth, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Orth, town of Holton, were united in marriage in the rectory of St. Bernard’s Catholic church. The Rev. Franics Brockman officiated at the double ring ceremony at 10:30.

The diminutive bride wore a gown of white brocaded organza, fashioned with a long sleeves and a train. Her finger-tip veil, which was bordered with wide lace, fell from a tiara of sequins. A heart shaped gold locket, given her by the groom, and a shower bouquet of white roses and pink carnations, completed the bride’s ensemble.

Attending her as maid of honor was Miss Ermine Orth, of Milwaukee, sister of the groom. Her frock was of pale blue faille, made with a sweetheart neck line on the fitted bodice, short puffed sleeves and a very full skirt on which clusters of white flowers had been fastened.

Miss Wanita Gosse was her sister’s bridesmaid. She wore a frock of pink taffeta similarly designed. Both attendants wore matching shoulder length veils fastened to floral wreaths and had wrist corsages of gardenias and carnations. Each also wore heart shaped lockets.

Raymond Kiefer, town of Holton, and Roy Singstock, town of Colby, attended the groom.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. White, blue and pink streamers, held by a large white wedding bell were used in the home decorations. A 6:30 dinner was served to about thirty guests. Candelabra with white, blue and pink candles and a wedding cake decorated in patriotic colors, formed the centerpiece on the bridal table.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion. On Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Orth left for Milwaukee to spend a few days.

The groom is a farmer and at present is employed on the Milton Meske farm.

Among relatives from away who attended the wedding reception were three sisters and a brother of the groom: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kugel and family and Miss Ermine Orth, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Al Bramucher, Medford; and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Orth and family, of Owen.
