Wasserburger, Leona Charlotte (Marriage - 7 November 1951)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Leona Charlotte Wasserburger and Delbert Langreck, on Wednesday November 7, at nine o’clock. Vows were repeated before an altar banked with baskets of white, gold and bronze chrysanthemums. Officiating at the nuptial high mass was Father John J. Novak.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wasserburger of 166 N. Grand Ave. and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Langreck of Neillsville.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in an entrained gown of white Chantilly lace over satin. It was styled with a hoop skirt, and long fitted sleeves buttoned from the wrist to elbow with tiny satin buttons. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a net yoke with lace of the gown appliquéd to the yoke just off the shoulder. Her finger tip veil of imported French illusion fell from a tiara of orange blossoms. She carried a crescent-shaped bridal bouquet of white chrysanthemums, Chinese asters and stephanotis. It was outlined with velvet loops and a sprig of ivy entwined in the flowers.

For her role as her sister’ maid of honor, Miss Bernita Wasserburger wore a dull gold gown. It was fashioned with a fitted Basque waist of brocaded satin with a bertha collar of net and brocaded satin. Her hoop skirt had two layers of net over satin. The bridesmaids were two sisters of the groom, Miss Joan Langreck and Miss Joyce Langreck. They were dressed in Nile green gowns fashioned identical to the maid of honor. They all wore net bonnets to match their gowns and carried bouquets of gold and bronze chrysanthemums.

Louis Kessler attended the groom as best man and Robert Chadwick and Robert Wegner as groomsmen. They wore double breasted grey suits.

Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was held at the home of the bride’s parents for 120 guests. The tables were artistically decorated with bowls of gold bronze and white chrysanthemums. The bridal table was centered with a huge wedding cake.

Following a honeymoon trip the young couple will be at home in Neillsville, where the groom owns and operates a milk route.

The bride graduated from the local high school and is employed in the Neillsville Bank.

Mr. and Mrs. William Boller of Wausau, sister and brother-in-law of the bride, were present for the ceremony.
