Buss, William (27 JAN 1896 - 20 OCT 1951)

William Buss of Clintonville and a former resident of this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), passed away unexpectedly at 11:30 Saturday evening, Oct. 20.

William Albert Buss, 55, was born Jan. 27, 1896 on a farm in the town of Pella, Shawano Co., where he remained until his marriage to Amanda Jesse in 1924. They later moved to Wausau, and after spending one year there they moved to Withee, where he and his brother Theodore operated a cheese factory at Clark for more than 10 years. His share was then taken over by his brother Reinhold and Mr. Buss and his family returned to Pella, where they settled on a farm until the death of his wife in 1941. He then moved to Clintonville with his family, where he remained until the time of his death. He was employed as a machinist at the Four Wheel Drive Auto Co.

On Dec. 29, 1945 he was united in marriage with Louis Bruchert, who with two sons, Marvin of Madison and Wayne, and a daughter Shirley at home, mourn his sudden departure.

Mr. Buss was a devout member of the Christus Lutheran Church and Brotherhood of Clintonville and a member of the American Legion Post 198 of Marion, being a veteran of World War I.

In departing from this earth, he leaves to mourn his loss, his bereaved wife and children; five brothers, Theodore and Reinhold of Owen; Arthur of Shawano; Paul of Pella and Walter of Black Creek.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 24 at Christus Luth. Church. The rev. E. C. F. Stubenvoll in charge. Burial was made at Bethlehem Luther. Church Cemetery in the town of Pella, where military rites were held.

Pallbearers were Arnold Schroeder, Erwin Kaphingat, Richard Wolfe, Gilbert Schmidt, Norman Conradt and John Hacker.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the American Legion.
