Ammentorp, Clara (20 JUN 1896 - 20 NOV 1951)

At two o’clock Friday, Nov. 23, from the Danish Lutheran Church, Withee, funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Thorvald Ammentorp. The Rev. W. Clayton Nielsen will officiate and burial will be made in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Herman Blunck, Levi Dickenson, Armond Miller, Alfred Frost, Emil H. Hansen and Chris Christophersen.

Death came to Mrs. Ammentorp; only a few hours after she was admitted to the Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, on Nov. 19th, 1951. Late Sunday night while at her home she suffered a severe stroke, being immediately rushed to the hospital where she passed away early the next forenoon as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Clara Ammentorp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lang, was born on June 20, 1896 at Farwell, Neb. She came to this community when a young lady of 12 years of age, moving here with her parents to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.).

On July 2, 1918 she and Thorvald were joined in wedlock in a ceremony performed at Withee. The couple have since resided in the community, being successfully engaged in the occupation of farming. She was active in the functions of the Lutheran Guild and Book Club, but above all she was a devoted mother to her large family.

Surviving her untimely death are her husband and nine children, four sons, Harold, Milwaukee; Richard with the Armed Forces in Germany; Vernon, with the Navy, stationed at Port Huneme, Calif.; and Frederick at home, and five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Ellen) Zwiefelhofer, Bloomer; Mrs. Eric (Dorothy) Telin, Owen; Mrs. Frank (Phyliss) Konieczny, Thorp; Mrs. Robert (Betty) Pence, Withee and Helen at home.

Also surviving are three brothers, Wilfred Lang, Hayward, Calif.; Herbert Lang, Hay Springs, Neb.; and Edwin Lang, Unity; and five sisters, Mrs. Fred (Harriet) Rasmussen, Oshkosh; Mrs. T. C. (Sara) Snyder, San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. C. S. (Anna) Mikkelsen, Junction City, Oregon; Mrs. Peter (Dagny) Madson, city and Mrs. Andrew (Hilda) Smith, Owen. One son, Alfred, preceded her in death.
