Poplawski, Lorraine (Marriage - 10 Aug. 1946)

Miss Lorraine Poplawski, daughter of Mrs. Ted Poplawski, of Marshfield, became the bride of Gerald Ramthun, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ramthun of Wausau, Saturday afternoon. The double ring ceremony took place in Salem Lutheran church at Wausau at 3:00 o’clock, with the Rev. John Henning officiating.

Palms, baskets of gladioli, and sweet peas adorned the chancel and Elroy Greimler sang "O Perfect Love."

With her gown of georgette chiffon, fashioned with a train, the bride wore a short veil, held in place by a beaded tiara, and she carried a bouquet in which red and white roses and baby’s breath were combined.

Her cousin, Miss Leona Garbarski of Edgar, who served as maid of honor, was dressed in blue net, with blusher veil, and carried pink carnations, snapdragons and feverfew. Eileen Schultz, Wausau, a cousin of the groom, as bridesmaid, wore white net and a blusher veil. Both wore necklaces, gifts from the bride.

Harvey Ramthun, Wausau, was his brother’s best man and the bride’s brother, Ted Poplawski, Marshfield, was usher.

The mothers wore black and white dresses with black accessories and gardenias.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents, where dinner was served to 150 guests. At night a dance was held in Riverview park ballroom.

The bride, a graduate of Abbotsford high school, with the class of 1943, has been employed by the Employer’s Mutual at Wausau. The groom, who was graduated from Wausau high school in 1941, was in service for three years. The couple have gone to northern Wisconsin for two weeks and after their return will reside at 619 Winton street, Wausau.
