Selves, Donald #2 (1884? - 10 JAN 1908)

Last Friday an exceptionally sad accident occurred at Minneapolis in which Donald Selves, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Selves, met his death. Selves had been employed for the past four years in the yards of the Minnesota railroad Transfer Co., his duties being principally to switch freight cars about the yards. Friday Selves was assisting in switching cars and had thrown a switch at the bottom of a heavy grade. He apparently did not notice the freight car coming down the grade and he was caught under the wheels, his head and chest being terribly crushed. Death was instantaneous. Telegrams were immediately sent to Selves’ relatives and his parents, grandmother, Mrs. John Selves, brother Byron of Fond du Lac and Mrs. H. W. Brown went to Minneapolis at once. The funeral was held there Monday.

Donald Selves was born in Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.) and was 24 years of age. He was a young man of unusual abilities and industry and had the highest esteem of all his acquaintances. He was capable and honorable, and the sad accident terminated a life of promise and usefulness. He was married three years ago and to the bereaved wife and relatives the deepest expressions of sympathy are extended.
