Firnstahl, Virginia (Marriage - 16 Nov. 1946)

Miss Virginia B. Firnstahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Firnstahl, of Colby, exchanged marriage vows with Angus D. Lamont, son of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Lamont, Sr., of Colby, Saturday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby, Wis. The double ring ceremony was performed before the nuptial high mass at 9:00 o’clock, with the Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating.

The mixed choir sang with Miss Bernadette Kraus as organist. At the Offertory, Mrs. S. A. Zavala sang Gounod’s "Ave Marie." At the Communion, Master Sgt. Norman Firnstahl, brother of the bride, sang "O Lord I Am Not Worthy," and at the close of the mass I. M. Firnstahl, the bride’s father, sang "On This Day O Beautiful Mother."

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown, fashioned with a satin bodice with a sweet heart neck line, filled in with net, making a high, round neck line. The skirt of net ended in a long train. Her short veil fell from a beaded head piece. She carried a mixed bouquet of white chrysanthemums and carnations.

Attending her as maid of honor was Mrs. Norman Firnstahl, her sister-in-law, of Omaha, Nebraska. She wore a frock of blue net and a short veil of the same color. She carried a mixed bouquet of white mums and pink carnations.

Miss Kathleen Firnstahl, of Anoka, Minn., the bridesmaid, wore a frock of pink net with matching veil and carried a bouquet of white mums and blue carnations.

Attending the groom was Jack Frane, Colby, as best man, and Jerry Firnstahl, brother of the bride. The acting ushers were Immanuel Firnstahl, Colby, and Robert Firnstahl, of Minneapolis, cousins of the bride.

The bride’s mother wore a gray dress and the groom’s mother wore a black suit dress. Both had corsages of red and white carnations.

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at 11:00 o’clock at St. Mary’s hall to 85 guests. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents in the afternoon at which time the bride cut her cake. A reception was also held in the evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Firnstahl are making their home in Colby where the groom manages Lamont’s Service. The bride has been employed at the grocery store owned by her father.
