Steubing, Marjorie L. (29 DEC 1951)

A Christmas motif of poinsettias and pine bows formed the setting in Immaculate Conception Church at Eau Claire, Dec. 29, 1951, when Marjorie Louise Steubing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steubing, 723 Talmadge St., Eau Claire, repeated vows with Robert William Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

Double ring vows were repeated by the couple after Father Daniel J. O’Reilly at 9:30 a.m.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white velvet ballerina length gown made with full skirt and fitted bodice, detailed with long sleeves and a rolled collar, and closing with a single row of pearl buttons. Her veil of French illusion fell from a halo of braided velvet, and she carried red poinsettias trimmed with holly and white net leaves.

Wearing a ballerina length velvet gown of American Beauty rose, Mrs. C. N. Bury, Madison, acted as her sister’s matron of honor. She completed her costume with a matching cloche and carried carnations with net leaves.

Arthur Steubing, Eau Claire, the bride’s brother, acted as best man. Ushers were Howard Steubing, Eau Claire, brother of the bride, and Mr. Bury.

Guests were received in the American Legion Hall from 2 to 5 p.m. The bride’s mother wore a black crepe dress with black accessories. A dark green suit worn with brown accessories was the costume worn by the bridegroom’s mother. Their corsages were white camellias.

For her going away costume, the bride wore a navy blue and white three-piece suit with navy blue velvet accessories and a corsage of red poinsettias. After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Olson will fly to Denver, Col., where the bridegroom, who is serving with the U. S. Air Force, is stationed. Both the bride and bridegroom were formerly employed by the Union National Bank at Eau Claire.

Showers were given for the bride by Mrs. Howard Steubing and Mrs. Arthur Steubing and by Miss June Kelley, all of Eau Claire.
