Mattes, William & Margaret (50th - 26 AUG 1952)

Mr. and Mrs. William Mattes greeted their friends at open house in honor of their golden anniversary on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 31st, 1952 at the home of their son Douglas in the town of Aurora.

Margaret Ann McLeod and William Mattes were married Aug. 26th, 1902 in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Eau Claire. Rev. Ernest Millbank performed the ceremony.

Directly after their married they came to the groom’s farm in the town of Aurora where they resided until ten years ago when they returned to their present home in the town of Colburn.

All four children were present on the happy occasion, Mrs. Arthur Karow, Withee, Robert Mattes, Kenosha, Douglas, Town of Aurora and Richard of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The seven grandchildren also were present.

Mrs. Mattes was attired in wine colored dress, she wore a corsage of yellow roses. Mr. Mattes was dressed in oxford gray with a yellow rose boutonniere.

Out of town guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Gale McLeod and baby daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gale McLeod and E.J. Cox of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Grace McLeod, Mrs. Esther Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peterson and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Nordahl Johnson and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Lenarth Asseth, all of Stanley; Mrs. Jane McLeod, Mrs. Lyda McLeod of Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Gene McLeod and children of Rice Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Richmond and two sons of La Crosse; Mrs. Rose Holmes, Mrs. Agnes Rumeng and Mr. and Mrs. Herald Rumery and family of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dudiak of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blunensten of Madison; Mrs. Ann Bublitz of Weyauwega; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Brown and Mrs. Cecil Ambrose and Rev.
