Giese, Frieda (Marriage - 31 May 1947)

Saturday, May 31, which was the birthday anniversary of the groom’s mother, was chosen as her wedding day by Miss Frieda Giese, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Giese.

Marriage vows were exchanged with Harold Podevels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Podevels, of the town of Frankfort, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon, at Peace Lutheran church in the town of Frankfort, with the Rev. Ernest Notbohm officiating.

During the nuptial service, Miss Marcella Keller sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "All the Way, My Savior Leads Me." Mrs. Notbohm was the accompanist.

Miss Ruth Neitzel, town of Frankfort, served as maid of honor and the groom’s cousin, Arvin Podevels, town of Frankfort, was the best man.

Other attendants were Mrs. Melvin Podevels, Milwaukee, and Miss Lorinda Giese, town of Frankfort, bridesmaids, and Melvin Podevels, Milwaukee, and Albert Podevels, town of Frankfort, ushers.

The bridal gown was fashioned with three rows of lace on the embroidered satin bodice’s neckline, and the full net skirt formed a train on which satin hearts were embroidered. Her finger tip veil hung from a crown of seed pearls and her shower bouquet was composed of red roses and white carnations. Her pearl necklace and matching earrings were gifts from her husband.

The maid of honor was attired in yellow marquisette and the bridesmaids in pink and blue marquisette. They carried mixed bouquets and wore pearl necklaces, gifts of the bride.

Approximately 150 relatives and friends were entertained at a 5:00 o’clock supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Christiansen, brother-in-law and sister of the bride. The home was decorated with white, yellow, pink and blue streamers. That evening a dance was held at the Trianon ball room.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Podevels will reside on a farm at Colby, Wis. The bride was employed at Abbotsford, Wis. The groom is a 1941 graduate of the Abbotsford high school.

Guests from Milwaukee, Colby, Edgar, Stratford, Wausau, Curtiss, Spencer, Marshfield, Sheboygan and Wells, Minn., were present at the wedding.
