Mueller, Herman F. (8 Apr. 1920 - 29 Apr. 1945)

 

The casketed remains of Pfc. Herman F. Mueller, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller, will arrive in Abbotsford, Thursday. He was killed in action in Italy, April 29, 1945.

 

The remains will be at the Zink Funeral Home until Saturday, when services will be held at 3:00 o’clock at Christ Lutheran church, the Rev. F. Sprengler officiating. Burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

 

Military reburial rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

The service man was born April 8, 1920, in New Glarus. He attended Abbotsford schools and was inducted in the Army June 27, 1944. He received his training at Camp Blanding, Fla., and early in November was sent overseas. The last letter received by his wife was dated April 23.

Surviving besides his parents are his wife, who has since remarried, and an 8 year old daughter, Sandra. A son, Ronnie, has died since his father’s death.

 

Surviving brothers and sisters include Mrs. Norman (Marie) Miller, Abbotsford; Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Stelzel, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Ted (Verna) Patrie, Eau Claire; Robert, at home; and Milton, Abbotsford, Wis.

Funeral services were conducted at Christ Lutheran church at 3:00 o‘clock Saturday afternoon for Pfc. Herman F. Mueller, 25, who was killed in action in Italy, April 29, 1945. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller.

 

The Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiated at the services and burial took place in the Abbotsford cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign Wars had charge of the military burial rites.

 

Pallbearers were Dick Kennedy, Ross and Myron Greaser, Dick Preller, Ed Weisenberger, and Harold Zank.

 

Roy Lueschow, Robert Boss, Fred Garbrecht, and Carl Gust were color bearers and George Garbrecht, John Bremer, Stanley Thompson, and James Nikolay, color guards. The firing squad included Norman Olsen, Darrel Bobbe, Lewis Goldamer, Frederick Kieser, Roberg Bogaard, Richard Ziebarth, and Kenneth Ingersoll.

 

Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Thornal Vamstad and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schiesser, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Patrie and family, Eau Claire; Brady Vamstad, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. William Brunner, Woodruff, and Wilfred Brunner, Medford.
