Noonan, Maraget (Marriage - 7 Oct. 1950)

St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Chicago was the scene of a very pretty wedding, Saturday morning, Oct. 7, at 9:00 o’clock when Miss Maraget Noonan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Noonan, Abbotsford, and Mr. Edward Mangan, son of Mrs. Margaret Mangan, Chicago, exchanged vows.

Escorted down the white carpeted aisle by her father, the bride was gowned in heavy ivory satin and Chantilly lace, fashioned with a molded bodice and dainty lace trimmed sweetheart yoke. The long sleeves were tapered to points over the wrists, and the full skirt was folded in unpressed pleats at the waistline. The skirt was accented with a wide panel and extended into a lengthy train which was bordered with matching lace. Her veil of illusion was adorned with appliqués of lace and fell from a headdress of satin, lace and orange blossoms.

A gift of the groom, a silver cross and chain, was worn at the bride’s throat. She carried a fashioned lily of the valley bouquet.

Miss Genevieve Howes, Wausau; Miss Mary Kelly, Chicago, cousin of the groom; Miss Josephine Mangan, sister of the groom, and Miss Amelda Noonan, sister of the bride, were the bride’s attendants. They wore identical dresses of blue satin and faille. The pointed bodices were accented with portrait necklines and cap sleeves. Full, floor length satin skirts completed the gowns. Fingerless, long gloves were also worn by the attendants.

The flower girl, Kathleen Rauchl, of Wausau, niece of the bride, wore a miniature copy of the attendants’ gowns. Necklaces worn by the attendants were gifts of the bride. Each girl carried a bouquet of pale, yellow baby mums.

Three year old Michael Noonan, nephew of the bride, carried the ring on a pillow.

The groom was attended by his brother, James Mangan, Peter Noonan and Ed Noonan, brothers of the bride, and Macotis, Greenwood.

After the ceremony, a Solemn Nuptial High Mass was offered, during which St. Sebastian’s choir sang.

At 12:30 o’clock, a wedding dinner was served to 42 guests at Math Igler’s casino. The bridal table was centered with a three-tiered cake, frosted in white and blue; lighted tapers were place at either side.

A reception was held at 8:00 o’clock in the evening at the home of Mrs. Margaret Mangan.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mangan are spending their honeymoon at New Orleans and other southern points. Upon their return they will reside in Chicago, where Mr. Mangan is a civil engineer.
