Johnson, Solomon #2 (4 MAR 1820 - 19 SEP 1909)

Solomon Johnson died Sunday at the home of his grandson, H. Carskadden, aged 89 years, 6 months, 15 days.  He was born in New York and was married to Betsy Bashford about 65 years ago.  Five children were born to this union, only one of whom, Mrs. Geo. Carskadden, survives her parents.  Mrs. Johnson died two years ago.

Mr. Johnson was one of the oldest, if not the oldest, settlers in Clark County.  He came to Clark County and settled on a farm north of this city.  About three months ago he came to this city to make his home with his grandson.

Mr. Johnson was a hardworking man in his prime, and was a good neighbor and a conscientious gentleman, and his death from old age takes one more of the little coterie of Clark County pioneers.  The funeral occurred Tuesday, Rev. Burrows preaching the sermon at the Methodist Church.
