Reichersamer, Ludwig (31 July 1905 - 18 Feb. 1953)

Funeral services for Ludwig Reichersamer, 47, who died Wednesday evening, are planned for Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery. The body is reposing at the Zink Funeral Home.

Mr. Reichtersamer was suddenly stricken ill, Sunday afternoon, about 3:30,  at Stratford. The family had been visiting Mrs. Reichersamer’s sister, Mrs. Charles Severt, and was preparing to leave. Mr. Reichersamer had started the car motor and came back to the house, when he became violently ill. He was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield. On Tuesday, he lapsed into unconsciousness and remained in that state until his death at 7:00 o’clock Wednesday evening. An autopsy showed a brain inflammation caused by a virus.

Ludwig Reichersamer was born July 31, 1905, in Neufahren, Naderbayern, Bavaria. Here he received his grade school education and served three years as apprentice shoemaker. His sister, Mrs. John Ettlinger, came to St. Paul in 1926 and two years later sent for her brother. He stayed with her until 1930 and then established a shoe repair shop in Dorchester, Wis. He moved to Abbotsford about three years later to a building since replaced by the present post office. Some years later, he built the building where, until his illness, he operated a shoe store and shoe repair shop.

On Sept. 30, 1934, he was married to Miss Ethel Buell, of Route 1, Abbotsford, at St. Paul, Minn.

Mr. Reichersamer was a member of the Presbyterian church, of Abbotsford, and the Abbotsford Free and Accepted Masons, which organization will conduct Masonic rites at the funeral. He held the office of junior deacon of the lodge.

Surviving are his widow and three sons, Roger, 17, Jack, 14, and Bob, 13, all at home. His sister, Mrs. John (Rosa) Ettlinger, lives in St. Paul. Two brothers, Jacob and John and a sister, Mrs. Anna Bichleder, still reside in Neufahren.
