Virnig, Benjamin "Ben" A. (December 21, 1919  - June 8, 2009) 
 

Benjamin "Ben" A. Virnig, 90, Medford, died Sunday, June 7 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where he had resided the past several weeks.  
 

Graveside committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 11 at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger officiating.

 
Benjamin Virnig was born February 27, 1919 in Faulkton, S.D., to the late Frank and Kunigunda (Bachmayer) Virnig.  
 

He moved to Medford with his family in his youth to the Town of Browning where he attended Birchwood Elementary School and then farmed.

 
On August 29, 1938 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, he married Caroline Rembleski, who survives. He continued farming for many years until 1968, and while farming also drove truck and became well known for his carpentry work, building many homes in the Medford area. He lived in Tomahawk from 1968 to 1971 when he returned to Medford.

 
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

 
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Teresa Kleiber of Milwaukee and Betty (Les) Krahn of Stratford; two sons, Robert (Sharon) and Larry (Sandi), both of Medford; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas on August 14, 1986; a grandson, Matthew Virnig on July 21,1977; two brothers, Sep and Adrian; two sisters, Mary Virnig and Genevieve Pelanek; and two sons-in-law, Ken Kleiber and Joe Vogt II.
