Scheller, Dawn M. (9 SEP 1928 - 3 JUL 2009)

 

Dawn M. Scheller, 80, Loyal, died on Friday July 3, 2009, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 7, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated. Burial of her cremains followed in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Dawn M. Hawley was born on Sept. 9, 1928, in Loyal, to Dale and Lillian (nee Kurtzheim) Hawley. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Eaton School and Loyal High School, graduating in 1946. After graduation, she went to work as a bank teller in Marshfield. She married Anthony J. Schlagenhaft on June 21, 1947, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. They resided in Loyal, and she went to work for O. W. Trindal as a secretary. Her husband, Anthony, died on April 24, 1962. She married Ronald J. Hansen on Sept. 3, 1967, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He died on March 26, 1970. She continued to work at O-W Trindal until 1973. She married Gerald Scheller in 1973, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and together, they purchased D&J’s Bar in Loyal, currently Shelby’s. Her husband died on Nov. 30, 1975. She continued to operate the bar until 1977. She went to work at Clark County Surge, Loyal, where she worked as secretary for 25 years. She also worked for Steve McNeely Insurance, the TRG, and currently, the House of Spirits. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, singing, embroidery, Scrabble, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing 31 and playing pool.

She will be dearly missed by her children, James (Marjean) Schlagenhaft, Kenosha, Sheryl (James) Sharp, Pemberville, Ohio, Karen Villwock, Bellflower, Calif., Barbara (Timothy) Nystad, Fort Atkinson, Mark (Tammy) Schlagenhaft, Chili, and Ronald "Buddy" Hansen, Riplinger; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Hawley (friend Sue)’ Oconto Falls, and Dale (Karen) Hawley, Mequon; one sister, Doreen Newhouse, Neenah; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands; three brothers, Roger Hawley, Jack Hawley and Jim Hawley, and three sisters, Lois Tompkins, June Matowitz and Sue Rudy.
