Zahorka, Loretta Joan (Marriage - 23 Aug. 1953)

Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, Miss Loretta Joan Zahorka, Abbotsford, became the bride of Kenneth A. Martin, son of Mrs. Sam Clark, Elmore, Minn. The double ring ceremony took place at 3:30 in Bethlehem Lutheran church, Milan, with the Rev. Harold Malotky officiating.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was gowned in sheer nylon net over satin, the bodice designed with a net yoke set off with lace and fitted sleeves and the full length skirt with inserts of lace, ending in a train.

A crown of seed pearls held in place the finger tip veil of nylon tulle. White satin ribbon with a huge bow held the pink roses and white carnations and mums that formed the bridal bouquet.

A frock of double nylon net over taffeta skirt and lace bodice and jacket was worn by Miss Darlene Haderlein, Milan, when she served as maid of honor for her cousin. Completing her ensemble was a headdress of tiny pink mums. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations tied with pink satin ribbon.

The two bridesmaids in pink gowns designed like the maid of honor’s were Mrs. Roy Peterson, Elmore, Minn., a sister of the groom, and Miss Patricia Zahorka, Abbotsford; a sister of the bride. Each had white mums in her hair and each carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations tied with satin ribbon.

The little flower girl, Sheila Hempel, Medford, is a cousin of the bride. She wore a white dress of nylon net over taffeta and carried a miniature bouquet of pink and white carnations.

Osmar Lehenbauer came from St. Louis, Mo., to serve as best man for his friend. Groomsmen were Roy Peterson, brother-in-law of the groom, and Ronald Martin, the groom’s brother, both of Elmore, Minn. The groomsmen also served as ushers.

The bride’s little brother, Marvin Zahorka, Abbotsford, was ring bearer.

A 6:00 o’clock supper was served that evening in the church parlors to 120 guests after which the newlyweds left on a honeymoon trip to northern Minnesota and Canada. They will reside in Springfield, Ill., where Mr. Martin will graduate next June from Concordia Seminary. Both are graduates of Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn. The bride is also a graduate of the Abbotsford high school.

Wedding guests came from Blue Earth, Elmore, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Lakefield, Alpha, Hennig, Fairmont, Nicollet, Delavan, Guckeen, and Owatonna, Minn., and Medford.
