Mathewson, Margaret #2 (12 APR 1885 - 23 FEB 1953)

 

Final rites were held Friday afternoon, Feb. 27th for Mrs. Clarence Mathewson, 68, who passed away at her home on Monday, Feb. 23, 1953, after suffering a heart attack.  Services were conducted at the Frist Congregational Church, Owen.  Rev. Arthur Meinhardt officiated and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were: Adolph Czeshinski, O. E. Wood beck, James Crowley, Duane Bulgrin, Carl Riber and Harold Wendt.

 

Mrs. Mathewson, nee Margaret Bacon, had been a resident of the community of the community for 39 years during which time she served actively in church activities and the Eastern Star Lodge until her health began to fail about three years ago.  She was born on April 21, 1885 at Five Points, Richland Co., Wis.  When she was 13 years of age she and her parents moved to Jump River where she met Clarence Mathewson and was united in marriage to him on Feb. 10, 1906.  The couple then moved to Trempealeau, Wis., in 1909, residing there for five years, when they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1914.

 

The deceased is survived by her husband who has devoutly cared for her during her long illness, two sons, Kenneth and Donald, Owen; two daughters, Mrs. Celand (Lois) Melbinger, Owen and Mrs. E. F. (Merna) Sullivan, Sheffield, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Church, Maple Valley, Wash.; Mrs. Clara Byers, Tenino, Wash.; and two brothers, Con and Christ Bacon, both of Owen, and a host of friends of long standing.
