WITHEE -- Nick Satonica, 86, of Withee, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. 
 

A candle lighting service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. 
 

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Private committal services will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon.

WITHEE -- Nick Satonica, 96, of Withee, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Nick was born Nov. 24, 1922, in Ida Mae, W.Va., the son of Rudy and Anna (Canfela) Satonica. He served as a medic in the Army during World War II, from Sept. 16, 1943, until his honorable discharge Feb. 1, 1946. 
 

Nick married the former Margaret Chesmore on Dec. 2, 1944, in Seattle, Wash. While living in Seattle, Nick worked at the Lockheed Shipyard as a welder. They later moved to the Withee area. His wife Margaret passed away May 23, 2009. 
 

Nick is survived by his children, Pat Warren of Houston, Texas, Steven Satonica of Withee, and Karen Woodard of Withee; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Nick is further survived by his siblings, Sarah Fisher of Pennsylvania, Sam (Ida) Satonica of Owen, Mitchie (Mickey) Satonica of Cadott and Daniel (Thelma) Satonica of Michigan.
