Chris, Frank #2 (27 NOV 1869 - 22 APR 1953)

 

Funeral services for Frank P. Chris, 83, who was killed instantly in a car accident near Polo, Ill., at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 1953, were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 27th at Griebenow’s Funeral Home.  Father H. Crubel officiated and burial was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers included Henry Etten, Albert Brick, Fred Johnson, Eugene Mertens, Frank Zondlo and Claude Hammel.

 

Flower arrangements were handled by Loretta and Eileen Thorson, Mrs. L. Christofersen, Mrs. John Greschner, Mrs. Felix Dietsche and Mrs. Wm. Combs.

 

The deceased was born on Nov. 27, 1869 in Dunkirk, N.Y.  He worked for many years as an employee of the Soo Line Railway, retiring 18 years ago.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Ways Employees for many years.  He had made his home for the past 25 years with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Knaack, city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.).  Mr. Chris had been a very active man and leaves many friends and relatives.

 

At the time of his death he and his daughter, Mrs. Brick of Boyd, were on their way to Sterling, Ill. when the accident occurred.  Mrs. Brick is still confined to the hospital at Dixon, Ill.

 

He is survived by three sons, Steve, Mercer; Ben, Gary, Ind., and Clarence, Abbotsford; five daughters, Mrs. Chas. (Rose) Knaack, Sr., Owen; Mrs. Fred (Bertha) Brick, Boyd; Mrs. Adolph (Clara) Kleinstick, Gary, Ind., Mrs. Claude (Lillian) Hammel, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Frank (Lucyanna) Zondlo, Rib Lake, wis.; 15 grandchildren.  His wife Mary and seven sons preceded him in death.

 

Out of town friends and relatives who attended the funeral services included Steve Chris, Mercer; Ben Chris, Gary, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hammel, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zondlo, Rib Lake; Clarence Chris and Danny Hammel, Abbotsford; Fred Brick, Boyd; Rudolph Knaack, Hayward; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Spears, Waterloo, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brick and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brick, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fischer, Stetsonville; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Helmenak, Mrs. Stella Niespodzany, and Mrs. Mike Niespodzany, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Webben, Colby and Morris Gierl, Gus Hintz, Frank Gossel and Walter Maldonis, Abbotsford.
