Thorne, Joyce (29 NOV 1953)

In a lovely ceremony performed at the First Congregation Church, Owen, Miss Joyce Eileen Thorne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thorne, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and Arnold LaVern Ellis, son of Mrs. Graydon Ellis, Curtiss, exchanged the sacred vows of matrimony.

The nuptial vows were repeated after Rev. Arthur Meinhardt at two-thirty o’clock Sunday afternoon, Nov. 29th, 1953.

Wearing a gown of white satin having a nylon yoke with a lace trim on the skirt and bodice, the bride was given in marriage by her father.  She carried a bridal bouquet of white gladiolas gathered with a white satin ribbon.

Attending the bride were Mrs. Floyd Thorne, matron of honor and Mrs. Wilbur Thorne, bridesmaid.  They wore taffeta floor length formals designed with a "V" cut neckline of light pink and light green shades respectively.  The bouquets they carried were similar to that of the bride’s.

Mr. Floyd Thorne attended the bridegroom as best man.  Both wore the conventional business suits.

For the occasion the bride’s mother wore a dress of dark green crepe with black accessories.

Organ selections played during the ceremony were rendered by Mrs. Arthur Meinhardt, and Misses Nora and Jean Jensen sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "I Love You Truly."

Later that afternoon at five o’clock a reception as given for the young couple at the home of the bride’s parents where they received guests from Loyal, Abbotsford, Minneapolis, Menomonie, Wis. Dells, Madison, Barnum and Gay Mills.

The couple is now residing on the groom’s farm located near Curtiss and have the best wishes of their many friends and relatives for a long and happy wedded live.
