Doege, Clara (24 NOV 1877 - 9 APR 1954)

 

Mrs. Clara Doege, 77, passed away Friday, April 9th, 1954, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ambrose Keller, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.).  She had been in poor health for the past several years.

 

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday afternoon in Thorp, Rev. Walter Schedler, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, officiated.  Burial was made in the East Thorp Cemetery. 

 

Acting as pallbearers were six grandson, Herman, Arthur, Harold and Clifford Doege, Patrick Telford and Billy Darge.

 

The deceased, nee Clara Russell, was born on Nov. 24, 1877 at Plymouth, Wis.  Her early childhood was spent at Butternut where she attended school.  Later on, June 5, 1894, she was united in marriage to Herman Frederick Doege.  Eight children were born to the union, four sons and four daughters.

 

The couple moved shortly after their marriage to the vicinity of Thorp, settling on a farm in the Town of Reseburg where they lived until November 1942 when they sold the property to one of their sons, Ernest.  The couple then made their home in Thorp until Mr. Doege passed away.  She then made her home for five years with her daughter, Dora and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Quelle, until November of last year, when she moved to Curtiss, making her home with another daughter, Freda.

 

She is survived by three sisters, Minnie Goellner and Viola Klein, Butternut, and Ella Marith, Butternut; five brothers, George, Henry and William of Butternut, Edwin and Alfred of Mercer; four sons, Herman, Withee; Reinhold, Eau Claire; Ernest, Thorp; and Edwin and three daughters, Clara Darge, Thorp, Freda Keller, Curtiss and Dora Quelle, Withee.
