Madsen, Hans C. (1872 - 7 MAY 1954)

Hans C. Madsen, a pioneer resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) and a prominent civic leader for more than 25 years, broke the bonds of a physical and spiritual life of more than 82 years early Saturday forenoon when he passed peacefully away into eternity.

Death came to him at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient for about a month.  During his period of hospitalization he enjoyed the daily visits of his family, an occasional smoke of his favorite pipe and never complained of pain or distress.  Suddenly he began to weaken late Friday night with death coming swiftly and quietly.

Previous to his hospitalization he had been confined to his home during the winter months, losing daily contact with his many associates about town.

Funeral services were conducted from Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee, Wednesday afternoon, May 12, at two o’clock, with Rev. W. Clayton Neilsen officiating.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were R. E. Gabriel, W. K. Doonan, E. C. Olds, C. N. McMillan, Emil A. Hansen and Jens Smith.  Honorary pallbearers were Edward Lehnen, Neal Laine, Carl Riber, Robert Habighorst, J. J. Crowley, Lawrence Clark, R. F. Gaffney, Harry Dempsey, John Bacon, Adolph Haavisto and J. R. Barager.

Those in charge of floral offerings were Mesdames Art Schwenke, Duane…..(the rest of my copy was cut off)
