Schwantes, Walter George (15 Aug. 1903 - 28 Jan. 1956)

Walter Schwantes, 52, former cheese maker at the Holton cheese factory, died Saturday night at Madison General hospital. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, Tuesday afternoon and internment was made in the West Spencer cemetery. He was a resident of Spencer the past two years.

Mr. Schwantes was born in the town of Unity Aug. 15, 1903, and was married to the former Ruth Buck June 3, 1926, at Edgar. He was a cheese maker all his adult life and operated a cheese factory in the town of Lynn with his only son, William Schwantes.

He was also active in school affairs and at one time served as school treasurer of the town of Holton.

Besides his wife and son, he leaves his mother, Mrs. William Schwantes, Colby; two brothers, Maynard, of Loyal and Donald, of Neillsville; one sister, Mrs. Byron Nebbe, Milwaukee, and two granddaughters. Two infant daughters preceded him in death.
