Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Samson returned Sunday afternoon from a three weeks trip on which they were accompanied by his sister, Mrs. J. P. Sprecher, of La Crosse, and her sister, Mrs. Alice Rudland, of Minneapolis. They visited relatives at El Mesa, Monrovia and Joshua Trees, Calif., and at Albuquerque, New Mexico, and many scenic places enroute. 
 

Albert Reis, Antigo, visited a few days at the George Calmes home, last week. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Kulas and family spent Sunday at the John Kulas home near Milan, where a family reunion was held. 
 

Mrs. Robert Hartzell substituted Wednesday of last week, at the Pleasant Hill school, for Mrs. Margaret Schmidt, teacher in the lower grades, who was away to attend the funeral of her mother. 
 

Mrs. Arthur Steele spent the week end at Chippewa Falls at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bunkelman, and family. 
 

Mrs. Eli Mittelstadt was hostess to a group of friends at cards, Wednesday evening. Mrs. Mittelstadt plans to leave the end of the week to spend the winter months at Mt. Prospect, Ill., and Bluffton, Indiana, with her children. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. H. O. Zink, high score, and Mrs. R. J. Janda, for low. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. George Calmes and Mrs. Julia Reis went to Mishicot, Friday, for the funeral of John Reis. They also visited at Two Rivers, Whitelaw, and Green Bay, returning Sunday. 
 

A group of friends held a pre-nuptial shower honoring Miss Norma Wilson at the Wilson home, Tuesday evening. Another group honored her Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Harold Kalepp. The wedding of Miss Wilson and Harold Kalepp, Jr., is planned for Oct. 30. Hostesses for the shower Tuesday were the Misses Sue Hartzell, Nancy Roth, Jane and Bernice Kalepp. The hostesses for tonight were Mrs. M. C. Bunnell, Mrs. Lily Wilson and Mrs. Harold Kalepp. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. John Lindberg, Miss Sandra Lindberg and Mrs. Eugene Leu visited Mrs. Charles Boyer at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Monday evening. Mr. Boyer was there in the afternoon. 
 

Miss Frieda Weideman, Milwaukee, came Friday morning and is spending this week with her mother, Mrs. August Weideman. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schwab and family, Tomahawk, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sybeldon. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. Roman Thiel, Appleton; Mrs. Bernard De Bruin, Black Creek; and Mrs. William Hopfensperger, Colgate, were at the Mrs. Frank Hopfensperger home, the week end of Oct. 10. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Merwin and family spent the week end at Kewaskum with the Arvin Merwin and Ralph Remel families. 
 

The Owen chapter of the Order of Eastern Star entertained the Abbotsford chapter Monday evening at the Art Lysdahl home. Attending from this chapter were Mmes. Lawrence Neitzel, Alfred Scheel, Wilbur Kuehnast, J. A. Billing, C. W. Hoffman, of Abbotsford; Mmes. Bertha Jackson, Art Kumbier, and Bob Hopkins, of Colby; and Mrs. A. J. Hennlich, of Curtiss. 
 

Miss Donna Miller spent the week end with friends at Milwaukee. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Treat visited his sister, Mrs. Lelah Thomas,, at Appleton from Monday until Wednesday.
