Kauffman, Hattie (2 Nov. 1873 - 11 June 1956)

Funeral services for Mrs. Wesley Kauffman, 82, who died Monday, were held this afternoon at two o’clock at the Presbyterian Church, of which the deceased was a member. The Rev. T. Clifford Hay officiated at the rites and at the Abbotsford cemetery where internment was made.

Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Donald Kilty, Charles and Lewis Gurney, Lavern and Maynard Kauffman, and Edwin Frome.

Grand daughters carried the floral offerings. They were the Misses Lucille and Barbara Gurney, and Sandra, Sharon, and Darlene Kilty.

The body lay in state at the Zink Funeral Home until noon today when it was taken to the church.

Mrs. Kauffman was born Hattie Fosnow, Nov. 2, 1873, in the town of Aken, Richland county, Wisconsin. She was married there, Oct. 4, 1894, to Wesley Kauffman.

For several years after their marriage they farmed in Graham, Iowa, and then came to Wisconsin where they continued farming until 1927 when they came to the village of Abbotsford.

Mrs. Kauffman underwent surgery last fall and has been in poor health since. She was readmitted to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Thursday, and died there at five a.m. Monday.

She is survived by her husband and five children: Louis, of Milwaukee; Donald, of Abbotsford; Fred, of Unity; Mrs. George (Elma) Gurney, of Neillsville; and Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Fleischman, of Abbotsford.

There are 17 grand children and 11 great grand children. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Elsie Eaton, of Richland Center; and one brother, John Fosnow, of Beloit.
