Langholz Silver Anniversary  (07 July 1946)

 

The silver wedding anniversary of the Rev. John C. Langholz, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church and his wife, Frances B. Meske Langholz, was celebrated on Sunday, July 7. Rev. and Mrs. Langholz were united in marriage on July 7, 1921, At Akron, Ia.

 

A 10:45 morning service at Trinity church was conducted by the Rev. Fred A. Meske Sr. of Marshfield. Rev. Meske is the bride’s father and officiated at the original ceremony. The groom’s father, the Rev. Christian Langholz, who delivered the sermon at that time, is deceased. Before an altar beautifully decorated with garden flowers, Rev. and Mrs. Langholz renewed their marriage vows. The choir sang "Bless the Lord," sung at the wedding 25 years ago, and Orville Nysted sang "The Lord’s Prayer.

 

Mrs. Langholz chose a dusk rose dress for the occasion and wore a corsage bearing her bridal flowers, Ophelia roses, daisies and swansonia.

 

Mrs. A. G. Langholz of Preston, Ia., sister of the bride was present to duplicate her attendance as maid of honor. Henry Stryzewski of Akron, Ia., was best man; the Rev. A. G. Langholz of Preston, Ia., cousin of the groom and the Rev. Fred Meske Jr., brother of the bride, attended Rev. Langholz.

 

A 1 o’clock wedding dinner was served to relatives and out-of-town guests in the church parlors. The tables were decorated with garden flowers, candles and three wedding cakes, received as gifts to carry out the original yellow and white bride’s colors.

 

An open house was observed at the church parlors, from 8 until 10 p.m. for members of Trinity church, neighboring pastors and friends. The congregation and the church organizations presented Rev. and Mrs. Langholz with a liberal purse and other gifts.

 

Out of town guests were: the Rev. and Mrs. A. G. Langholz and daughters, Carolyn and Charlene of Preston, Ia.; Miss Edna Steinert of LeMars,Ia.; the Rev. and Mrs. Fred Meske Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. George Jensen of Marshfield; Miss Mildred Jensen of Edgar; the Rev. and Mrs. Fred Meske Jr. and daughter, Barbara, of Morris, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stryzewski of Akron, Ia.; Mrs. Etta Marshall of Whitewater; the Rev. and Mrs. Edgar Milleville and daughter, Shirley,  of Nasonville; the Rev. and Mrs. F. E. Bloede and sons, Lyle and James, of Fall Creek; the Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Norson and son, Stanley, and daughter, Sandra, of Greenwood, and the Rev. and Mrs. J. Alfred Olson and Mr. and Mrs. R. Johnson of Unity.

 

Rev. and Mrs. Langholz have served the parish at Loyal since 1937 when they moved from Ladysmith. They have two daughters, Frances Ann and Eunice, both at home.
