Kenney, Allene (24 JUL 1954)

St. Hedwig’s Chapel was the setting at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24th, 1954, for the wedding of Allene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kenney of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Melvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reichert of Thorp.  The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Edward A. Masalewicz before the altar which was tastefully decorated with gladiolas.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white chapel length gown of Rosepoint lace over nylon tulle and Burneil satin fashioned with a fitted bodice, a sheer nylon tulle skirt over a satin hoop had a front peplum of scalloped Rosepoint lace and was embroidered with sequin lace medallions.  Her hand rolled silk illusion fingertip veil was attached to a braided scroll Juliet cap fashioned with nylon petals.  She carried a white lace covered miscsal adorned with an orchid surrounded by stephanotis attached and satin streamers.

Miss Patricia Kenney of Madison, sister of the bride, and Marilyn Reichert, sister of the groom, as bridesmaids, wore floor length gowns of copper color lace and nylon tulle over taffeta fashioned with shirred bodice, matching lace capes and matching lace halos.  They carried missals (a gift of the bride) trimmed with copper colored lace and yellow pompons and copper and brown streamers.

The groom and his attendants Donald Reichert, a brother, and Duane Jacques, a friend, wore navy blue suits and had stephanotis boutonnieres.

The music was furnished by St. Hedwig’s Girl’s Choir with Sister Febronia as organist.

A breakfast and dinner were served at the home of the bride’s parents for the immediate families.

After a wedding trip in northern Wisconsin the happy couple will be at home after August 1st at 2928 N. 50th St., Milwaukee, where the groom is employed at Nordbergs as an electrician.

The bride is a graduate of the Thorp High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.  The groom attended Thorp High School and Dunwoody Institute at Minneapolis.
