Wittke, Gladys (28 July 1887 - 24 December 1953) 
 

Mrs. Herman Wittke, nee Gladys Johnston, 66, Almond, Rte. 1, died December 24 at her farm home, following two years of sickness. 
 

Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. S. Ranken, pastor of the Almond Methodist Church officiating.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Wittke was born July 28, 1887, in the Town of Pine Valley to William and Romena (Baxter) Johnston. She received her education in the rural schools of Pine Valley and in the Neillsville High School.  She taught for several years until her marriage to Herman Wittke, which took place (date unreadable) in Neillsville.  They located on a farm in Pine Valley, where they lived for 18 years.  Then they moved to Milwaukee, and after seven years they again started farming, this time locating at Almond. 
 

Mrs. Wittke was a member of the Almond Methodist Church, Women’s Society of Christian Service, Almond Progress Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. 
 

Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Burton (Pauline) Bratburg of Milwaukee, and a brother, George Johnston of Brookway, Mont.
