John J. Mikottis, 71, Stanley, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at his home. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m., at the Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenwood. Members of his family served as pallbearers.

 

John Joseph Mikottis was born on Oct. 8, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., to Adolph J. and Emily T. (nee Cwik) Mikottis. When he was a young child, his family moved to California, where he was raised and received his education. He drove truck for most of his life until becoming disabled in the late 1980’s when he retired. He continued to live in California before moving to Stanley, in September 2008. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on the computer and taking pictures

 

Survivors include five children, Cindy, Christopher, John, Scott, and Jace, all of California; several grandchildren; four siblings, Kathleen Gadke, Stanley, Marilyn (Stanley) Kole, Walker, Minn., Dianne (Tim) Barlow, Collinsville, Okla., and Joseph A. (Barbara) Mikottis, Aztec, N.M.; Nieces, nephews; and many friends.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents.
