Smith, Beulah (7 April 1861 - 24 February 1956) 
 

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Mrs. Beulah Smith, 94, who died Friday at the Neillsville Convalescent Home.  Services were held from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil Holmes officiating.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Smith, nee Atkins, was born April 7, 1861, at Cato.  Her early education was received in the schools of Manitowoc County.  Her marriage to Stephan A. Douglas Smith took place May 11, 1881, at Snyderville.  The Smith family moved to Clark County in the early 1900s, and located on a farm in the town of York.  Here they farmed until 1927, when they moved to Neillsville. 
 

Mrs. Smith had been an invalid for several years, and had been confined to a bed for the past two years.  Before coming to the rest home in Neillsville she had been a resident of the Bethel Convalescent Home at Arpin. 
 

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nettie Smith, Madison; two sons, Bergen Smith, Neillsville, and Wilbur Smith of Milwaukee; two half-sisters, Mrs. Nellie Diest, Watertown, and Mrs. William (Marion) Tingley, Fond du Lac; a brother, Frank Atkins, Texas; and a half-brother, Earl Atkins, Fond du Lac; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. 
 

Pallbearers were: Arthur Berger, Ernest Campbell, George Frei, Henry Hubing, Earnest Karnitz and James West.  Mrs. Albert Smith and Mrs. Virgil Holmes, accompanied by Florence Counsell, sang two selections. 
 

Out of town relatives attending services were: Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Smith and Mrs. Marie Hause, Milwaukee; Mrs. Nettie Smith, Madison; Mrs. Austin Karow, Columbus; and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Ellis, Wausau.
