Darling, Ellen (2 September 1865 - May 1956) 
 

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Ellen Darling, 90, who died May 2, at the Neillsville Nursing Home.  The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home until noon Saturday, when it was taken to the Methodist Church for services.  The Rev. Virgil Homes officiated and burial took place in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Darling was born September 2, 1865, in Homestead County, Minn., to John and Ellen Ann Hughes. She received her education in the rural schools of Minnesota and, following her marriage to Merrill H. Darling on September 29, 1882, at Fond du Lac, the couple resided at Fond du Lac, later moving to Neillsville.  After a few years they returned to Fond du Lac and in 1918 moved back to Neillsville, which had been her home since.  She had been in failing health for the past four years.  
 

She is survived by a son, Fred, of Neillsville; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Faulke of Oak Grove, Ore. 
 

Mrs. Darling was a member of the Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge and W. R. C.  
 

Pallbearers were: Berton Wells, B. H. Peterson, Jesse Wilding, John Perkins, Russell Drake and Albert Smith.  Mrs. Albert Kuehling, Mrs. Albert Smith, Mrs. Helen Smith and Mrs. Virgil Holmes, accompanied by Mrs. T. N. Thompson, sang two selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." 
 

Attending the services from out of town was: Merrill W. Darling, Barnum, Minn.; Mrs. Lewis Anasov and jack Hughes, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. William Hughes, and Earl Wanty, Jr., all of Milwaukee.  
 

The W. R. C. members and the Rebekah Lodge attended the services in a body.
