Counsell, John T. (6 September 1892 - 27 August 1956) 
 

John T. Counsell, 63, of Rt. 4, Neillsville, died early Monday morning in a Marshfield hospital, where he had been admitted as a patient Sunday forenoon.  He had been ill for the past two years and suffered a stroke several weeks ago. 
 

Funeral services are to be held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Neillsville Methodist Church, with the Rev. Virgil Holmes officiating.  Burial will take place in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  The body will repose at the Georgas Funeral Home until one o’clock on Thursday. 
 

Mr. Counsell, the son of the late Thomas Peter and Mary Jane (Walker) Counsell, was born September 6, 1892, at Ashippun, in Dodge County.  As a small boy he came with his parents to Clark County, where the family located on a farm south of Pleasant Ridge.  He attended the Reed School, and when he was 17 years old he started hauling milk with a team to the Pleasant Ridge Dairy.  He later delivered milk in Neillsville for various plants.  At the time of his retirement in 1954 he was delivering milk for the Neillsville Dairy. 
 

His marriage to Hattie Wilkie took place September 2, 1941, at Neillsville.  
 

Surviving are his wife and two children, Jack and Betty, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Roy (Eva) Stanley, Neillsville; and a brother, Marvin of Milwaukee.

Funeral services for John T. Counsell were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Neillsville Methodist Church.  The Rev. Virgil Holmes officiated and burial took place in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Pallbearers were; Hubert H. Quicker, Norbert Schlegelmilch, Reinhart Quicker, Walter Grottke, Ernest Campbell and Harris Schoengarth.  Flowers were in charge of Mrs. H. H. Quicker, Mrs. Reinhart Quicker and Mrs. Walter Grottke.  Miss Carol Peterson and Mrs. Helen Smith, accompanied at the organ, by Mrs. T. N. Thompson, sang two selections. 
 

Out of town people attending the rites were Mrs. K. W. Counsell, Wisconsin Dells; Mrs. Clara Luedtke, Mrs. Edward Skrobis, Mrs. Richard Emling and Jay Emling, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Jahr and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jahr Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Victory Jahr, Chippewa Falls.
