Kuenkel, William Carl (23 May 1863 - 4 September 1956) 
 

Funeral services were held Friday from Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at Globe for William Carl Kuenkel, 93, who died September 4, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tillie Modersohn, with whom he had lived since 1929. 
 

The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home until noon Friday, when it was taken to the church for services at 2 o’clock, at which the Rev. Adolph Schumann officiated.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.  
 

Mr. Kuenkel was born May 23, 1863, in Germany to the late Carl and Wilhelmina (Kuhn) Kuenkel.  He received his elementary education in the schools in Germany, and in 1883 he came to the United States alone and located with friends in Sheboygan.  He worked on a farm there, and in 1888 came to Clark County.  For the past 78 years he resided in the Town of Hendren, where he farmed. 
 

He was married August 3, 1890, to Emaile Krieg at Neillsville. 
 

Mr. Kuenkel is survived by five children: Mrs. Arthur (Selma) Wegner, Oscar Kuenkel, Paul Kuenkel, Mrs. Tillie Modersohn and Mrs. Fred (Olga) Marg, all of Neillsville, Rt. 3. Eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. 
 

He was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at Globe for 78 years. 
 

Pallbearers were: Tony Ulesich, Clarence Wegner, Marvin Marg, Alfred Kuenkel, Erville Modersohn and Louis Ritter.  Those in charge of the flowers were Doris Struble, Ileen Ritter and Irene Kuenkel. 
 

Out of town people attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ritter and family, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Duge and children, Salem; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Ulesich and family, Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Marg, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Pickett, Merrillan.
