Short, James (17 Jul 1837 - 16 Feb 1912)

James Short, our deceased brother, was born at Saint Lawrence, New York, July 17th, 1837, and entered into the final rest at his home in Shortville Feb. 16th, 1912.  Age 75 years, 6 months and 1 day.

He died as he had lived, a firm believer in the Presbyterian faith.  Mr. Short is an honorary elder of the Shortville Presbyterian church and was a great worker for the cause of Christianity among the members of the church and community.  He was a kind and loving husband and no father could have thought or loved greater his children than he.  Kindness and gentleness, patience and pity for distress, love that understood and sweet charity for all, which endeared him in the hearts of his family and friends.

He has been living at Shortville forty years using his influence for the cause of Christ.  Those who now survive to mourn over the deceased are Mrs. James Short, the deceased’s wife, and also five children.  The deceased brother had been suffering from a stroke of paralysis for the last three years.  Friday, Feb. 16th, 1912, God’s fingers touched him and he fell asleep, just as the sun was going down.  His white soul went home to God.
