Volk, Normadine  (18 AUG-27 DEC 2009)

 

Normadine M. Volk, 82, Withee, died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at residence. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Dec 31, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen. The Rev. Gerard Willger officiated. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery it the town  of Hixon. Pallbearers were Michael, Ryan, and Kristian Schiszik, Adam and Alex Stumper, Matthew, Jacob and Jared Volk and Wade Dobrzynski.

 

Normadine M. Nicolaus was born on Aug. 18, 1927, in Waverly, Iowa, to Chris and Carrie (nee Seiling) Nicolaus. After graduating from Waverly High School, she moved to Omaha, Neb., and enrolled in Creighton University where she obtained her nursing degree. She became employed at the Community Hospital in Waverly, Iowa. On Aug. 24, 1949, she married John R. Volk. He died on June 8, 1981. She moved to Wisconsin and worked at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley and at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, for more than 27 years. She was a former Board member at Victory Memorial Hospital. She was an avid reader and loved collecting antiques.

 

Survivors include her children, John Volk, Owen, Beth (George) Hamm, Owen, Jane (Victor) Schiszek, Medford, Linda (special friend Randy) Volk Schiszik, Spencer, Thomas (Shari) Volk, Withee, Daniel Volk, Owen, and Julie (Paul Jr.) Stumpner, Owen; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Anderson, Waverly, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Bernita Pace, Waverly, Iowa.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two brothers, Nick and John; and one sister, Jeanette.
