Rasmussen, Marie (7 APR 1890 - 10 FEB 1955)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Viggo Rasmussen were conducted from Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, Sunday afternoon with the Rev. J. L. J. Dixen officiating.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.  Mourners grieved at the sudden death of the deceased as she had been ill for only two days at her farm home south of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) and on Thursday was admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, passing away later in the day suffering from bronchial-pneumonia

 

Serving as pallbearers were Jens Smith, Andrew Smith, Carl Jensen, Chris Christopherson, Evald Ammentorp and Earl Jensen.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Earl Jensen, Mrs. Chris Christophersen, Mrs. Andrew Smith, Mrs. Jens Smith and Elsie Anderson.

 

At 8:15 Saturday night special services for the deceased were conducted by members of the Rebecca Lodge at Hoeper and Kraut’s Funeral Home, where the body laid in state.

 

Mrs. Viggo Rasmussen, nee Marie Pedersen, was born on April 7, 1890 in Denmark.  When a young lady of 23 years of age she came to America with her husband, whom she married in Denmark on May 12, 1912.  The next year the couple came to America, first settling at New Denmark, Wis., where they made their home for six months and then moved to this community, first settling near Withee.  During the 42 years she was a resident of the Owen-Withee area she endeared herself to many friends, being active in community circles and the Rebecca Lodge.

 

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Paul of Milwaukee and Christian of Owen; one daughter, Mrs. Einar (Inger) Larson of Owen; and four brothers, Carl, Withee; Einar and Swen of California; and Hans of Milwaukee.
