Merrill, Minnie P. (4 JUL 1875 - 7 MAY 1955)

Funeral services for Mrs. Daniel M. Merrill, 79, were held at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon, May 10, from the Griebenow Funeral Home.  Rev. Ralph Claybaugh, pastor of the Congregational Church, city, officiated, with burial being made alongside her husband at Riverside Cemetery.  Death came quietly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Weddig, Saturday afternoon, May 7, 1955, after a long lingering illness.

Pallbearers were Messrs. Celand Melbinger, Harry Hilts, Harold Wendt, Adolph Czeshinski, Orland Woodbeck and Emil Hansen.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Ms. Simeon Prescott, being born on July 4, 1875 at Minneapolis.  On Sept. 11, 1895 she was united in marriage to Daniel M. Merrill in a ceremony performed at St. Paul., Minn.  The couple lived in Eau Claire for a number of years where Mr. Merrill was employed with the Gillette Rubber Co.  On his retirement in 1941 they moved to Owen and since his death in 1946 Mrs. Merrill has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Weddig.

While she had not been well for the past several years she nevertheless has enjoyed being actively engaged in various activities until the last few months.  Being the possessor of a lovable and understanding personality, her absence will be felt by her family as well as her many friends in this community.

She is survived by three sons, Earnest D. of Tacoma, Wash.; Thomas P. of Battle Creek, Mich.; and Kenneth E. of Gilroy, Calif.; and four daughters, Mrs. Harvey Weddig of Owen; Mrs. Wilbur E. Owens and Mrs. J. H. Lee, both of Nutley, New Jersey, and Mrs. George L. Patterson of Cornell.
