Miller, Betty Jo (Marriage - 28 June 1958)

In a 9:30 a.m. ceremony, Saturday, June 28, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, Betty Jo Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Beaver of Colby, become the bride of Alfred Hills, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hills, Sr. of Loyal.  The Rev. John Pinion officiated.

For her nuptial rites the bride chose a floor-length gown of hand clipped Chantilly lace and tulle over satin. The shirred Basque bodice had a jeweled neckline, and a lace redingote topped the ruffled skirt.  The veil fell from a crown of petals trimmed with seed pearls and iridescent sequins.  She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and whie stephanotis.

A sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Norman Miller of Park Falls, was matron-of-honor, and Mrs. Donald Hills, Loyal, a sister-in-law of the groom, was bridesmaid.  Each wore a ballerina-length gown of pink chiffon over taffeta, with a shirred bodice and cowl neckline with streamers down the back. They each carried a colonial bouquet of pink and whie carnations.

Flower girls were Jane Beaver, of Colby, sister of the bride, and Susan Hills, Loyal, sister of the groom.  Their dresses were white with blue streamers, and were styled like the gowns of the bridal attendants.

The groom chose the brother-in-law of the bride, Norman Miller, for his bestman; and John Hills, Milwaukee, was groomsman for his brother.  Raymond Miller, Marshfield, brother of the bride, and Merlin (Pat) Duell, Loyal, brother-in-law of the groom, ushered.

The mother of the bride wore an orchid linen dress and the groom’s mother wore a blue linen dress.  Both wore white accessories and yellow and white corsages.

The groom who is employed in Loyal is a graduate of Loyal High School.  The bride is a graduate of Colby High School, and is employed in Wausau.

A honeymoon was spent in northern Wisconsin.  They will make their home in Loyal.
