Vanderhoof, Lorena (07 JUNE 1947)

 

In a setting of bleeding hearts, bridal wreath, apple blossoms, lily of the valley and other mixed flowers, Miss Lorena Vanderhoof, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Munsen Vanderhoof of Spencer, became the bride of Russell Gehrke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gehrke of Loyal. The Rev. G. E. Neumann performed the marriage ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Salem Lutheran church at Veefkind. During the ceremony, Gladys Fenner of Loyal sang "Oh Promise Me" and "Because.’ She was accompanied by Mrs. John Mueller.

 

The bride wore a white gown, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and long bodice. The skirt was full and ended in a train. The fingertip veil was held by a high crown. Her bouquet was made up of pink roses, with white streamers, and for jewelry she wore a strand of pearls.

 

Miss Lavonne Smith of Eau Claire, a friend of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a white gown and had a wrist corsage of pink and white carnations. Other attendants were Darlene Heide of Two Rivers, cousin of the groom, who wore a white dotted swiss gown, and Anola Tews of Spencer, friend of the bride, also wearing a white formal.

 

Orin Gehrke of Loyal, brother of the groom was best man. Albert Vanderhoof of Spencer, brother of the bried, and Norman Vanderhoof of Omega, cousin of the bride, also attended the groom. Ushers were Munson Vanderhoof Jr., Brother of the bride, and LaVern Knoll, cousin of the groom.

 

A dinner was held at the church parlors, and approximately 100 guests attended. The parlor was decorated with blue, white and pink streamers. A reception was held at the Gehrke home and a dance in the Spencer municipal hall.

 

The bride was graduated from the Loyal high school in 1945 and attended the Eau Claire State Teachers college for one year. The groom is a graduate of the Spencer high school with the class of 1942, and he was in the marine corps during World War ll, serving in the Pacific theater of operations.

 

After spending a week’s wedding trip in southern Wisconsin, the bride and groom are now at home to their friends at the home of the groom’s parents on route one.

 

Out of town guests at the wedding included: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vanderhoof and family of Ogema, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mellenthin and son, Wilbur of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gehrke Sr. and daughter, Hattie, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vanderhoof of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Lee and daughter, Sharon of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gehrke Jr. and family and Mr. and Mrs. William Knoll and children of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gehrke and family of Auburndale, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gehrke and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Smogeleski and son of Reed, Mrs. Laura Heide and daughter, Darlene, of Two Rivers, Mrs. Conrad Weins of Manitowoc, and Mr. and Mrs. John Gehrke and Elmer Gehrke of Fort Atkinson.

 

To the newlyweds, the Loyal Tribune extends its wishes for a long and happy married life.
