Esselman, Clemens (15 MARCH 1928-22 FEB 2010)

 

Clemens B. Esselman, 81, Loyal, died on Monday, February 22, 2010, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 26, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were his nephews, Bob Bleisner, Dave Esselman, Virgil Esselman, James Esselman, Ron Esselman, and William Esselman. Military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post 175.

 

Clemens Bernard Esselman was born on March 15, 1928, in Loyal, to Joseph and Phyllis (nee Altemus) Esselman. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1946.After high school, he worked on the family farm until entering the U.S. Army on Sept. 17, 1952. After his honorable discharge on Sept. 8, 1954, he returned to Loyal. He married Virginia Grosbier on Oct. 7, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. He worked for Vernon Mech, at North Star Cheese Factory, south of Loyal, until retiring in 1984. After retiring, he was very active in the Loyal American Legion, where he was manager and also served as post commander. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, traveling, woodworking and being outdoors.

 

He was a member of St. Anthony’s catholic Church, Loyal, Loyal American Legion Post #175, Knights of Columbus Lady of Fatima Council #4963 where he was a 4th degree Grand Knight and served as comptroller, had served on the board of directors foe Citizens State Bank of Loyal, and was a member of the 40 et 8.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Virginia, Loyal; three children, Ann Esselman, Oak Creek, Paul (Kathleen) Esselman, Oak Creek, and Tom (Paulette) Esselman, Grapevine, Texas; two granddaughters, Katherine and Sara Esselman; one sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Beaver, Loyal; two brothers, Richard (Helen) Esselman, Loyal, and Lawrence (Julia) Esselman, Loyal; and one sister-in-law, Pauline Esselman, Oshkosh.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandson, Thomas Esselman; and one brother, Charles Esselman.
