Roth, Joseph (ABT. 1955-22 FEB 2010)

Joseph F. Roth, 55, Seattle, Wash., entered into the fullness of eternal life on Feb. 22, 2010, after a long and valiant fight with cancer. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, Feb. 26, at St. Anne Church, Seattle, Wash.

Joseph F. Roth was born in Marshfield, into a loving family of eight children. He lived, what to many of us was, an idyllic childhood on a farm. He was a gentle and kind soul, a truly decent and loving man who brought joy to everyone he encountered. His smiling face and sense of humor touched hearts and lightened spirits.

As a man who preferred the sidelines, he nevertheless was at center stage for 31 years as a court as a federal court reporter. His love of the outdoors, hiking, climbing, and summiting many of Washington’s peaks, including Mount Rainier, renewed his spirit and strengthened his body. He lived each moment with quiet dignity and passion. May we honor his memory by living this example.

Preceding him in death was his father, Norman Roth.

Survivors include his mother; his brothers and sisters, Daniel, Mary, Mark, Ann, Thomas, Anthony and Kathleen; his children, Paul, David and Maureen; and his wife Jean.

Online condolences may be made in his guest book at www.legact.com.

Hoffer Fisher& Harvey Funeral Home, Seattle, Wash., assisted the family with arrangements.
