Wright, John (? - 19 Sept 1912)

John Wright, rural mail carrier on Route 2, afflicted with heart trouble, through this affliction, answered the final summons with little warning at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, September 19th.  He had gone to the post office as was his habit about 7:30 that morning.  He entered the office and was at work when he felt to faint, too faint to continue and going outside sat down upon the steps.  Miss Krause and Victor Cole noticing his weakness followed and upon his agreeing to have a physician called, Dr. Ross was summoned.  A.J. Knorr coming upon the scene at this helped to support Mr. Wright in his sitting position.  The doctor was soon at hand, but too late to save him, he only surviving a few minutes more.

Mr. Wright was one of Granton’s best known citizens and was a resident here since coming from York state 40 years ago, being a rural carrier ever since the routes were established 9 years ago.  He is survived by his wife, and 4 children, namely Blanche, Mrs. Wm. Huff of Current, Canada; Roy in Minnesota; Bessie, Mrs. Rilla Osgood of this place, and Vernon at Lacona. - Granton News
