Miller, Lester E. (October 19, 1922 - March 31, 2010) 
 

Lester E. Miller, 87, Marshfield, formerly of Abbotsford, died at Miller Alternative on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.   
 

He attended Sand Hill School and graduated from Colby High School in 1940.   
 

Lester entered the United States Army in 1942 and served in the European Theater for 12 months as a squad leader. He was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1945 with a rank of staff sergeant.   
 

He married Marcia (Gries) on August 20, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.   
 

In 1949 Lester purchased the equipment and inventory of Home Bakery in Abbotsford. In 1954, he constructed a new building for Miller Bakery, which he operated and owned until 1978.   
 

Lester is survived by his children, Russell Miller of Marshfield and Susan (Todd) Buboltz of Appleton; and two grandchildren.   
 

He was predeceased by his wife.  

 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford, Monday, April 5. The Rev. S. Nathan with preside. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Colby with full military rites by Colby VFW Post 2227.
